Nineteen-time Grammy nominee, four-time Grammy winner and all-time guitar great, Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and literally dozens of others. He went on to perform with the Crusaders and then with the multi platinum jazz super group Fourplay. With 30 albums to his credit and having performed on over 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set a standard for artistry that spans three decades.In 2008 Larry Carlton received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Guitar Player magazine at the historical Ryman Auditorium and was presented the “Titan of Tone” award from Premier Guitar Magazine at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Larry also picked up 2 more Grammy nominations bringing his career total to 18 nominations with 3 Grammy wins! Larry’s “Greatest Hits Rerecorded – Volume One” released by 335 Records was nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Album and “Fortune Teller” from Fourplay’s Energy was nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. In February 2010 Larry Carlton announced that after having had the distinct privilege of enjoying the past 12 years of its 20 year history with Fourplay he has decided to take his leave to delve further into his solo career. Individual projects with Robben Ford, with Keb Mo, with Tak Matsumoto (largest rock star in S.E. Sponsored by First Ontario Credit Union, it's a community celebration where over 25 quality area restaurants compete for Best Soup, Most Creative Soup, Best Display and the Best Grow Local category. Local celebrities and politicians come out to serve soup and help with the event. Soupfest happens Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at the Hamilton Convention Centre, 1 Summer’s Lane, Hamilton from 11:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.Advanced tickets are $10 for Adults, Seniors $8 and Children $6. Jamie Smith - 2011 Hamilton Music Award Winner!The Hamilton Music "Industry" Awards were held Saturday November 19th and INDI 101 FM Program Director Jamie Smith won for Best Radio Show for his show “Sounds of the Hammer” heard Fridays from 12:00pm – 6:00pm on INDI 101 FM. Jamie is a tireless advocate for the local music scene who has interviewed hundreds of local musicians and bands on his show over the years….many of them bringing their guitars and performing live during the show. He promotes their CDs and their live appearances on air. OFF air he provides guidance and insight as to how a band can promote themselves and get that break that they’re looking for. INDI 101 FM Station Manager Les Palango says, "Jamie Smith also gives Radio and Journalism students opportunities to be involved at INDI 101 FM. He takes them into the studio and shows them our equipment and how it operates. He gets them on the air to get used to speaking to a radio audience. He has them working on social media for the radio station. He has them setting up for remote broadcasts from our lounge area. He genuinely cares that they are getting the most out of being involved in a living lab radio environment. His commitment is outstanding and I’m very proud of him." Way to go Gunner!!
